Last Thursday evening, Detective Carl Bowers was awarded the Samuel H. Miller Police Officer of the Year Award - presented by The Cleveland Police Foundation.
Detective Bowers is an active Black Shield member who dedicates much of his free time to Progress with Chess with Cleveland Metropolitan School district students; this program is now in its 18th year and shows no signs of slowing down.
Detective Michael Bell (Badge #184) Patrol Officer Erwin Eberhardt (Badge #333) and Detective Carl Bowers (Badge #24) were on the Chess Team at John Adams High School in 1983 and have remained friends since. Did you know that Detective Bowers won the National Championship that year?
The Black Shield Police Association is exceptionally proud of Detective Bowers. He is a true treasure in the Division of Police. Congratulations!
