In partnership with the Golden Ciphers and The Black Shield Police Association, I have enjoyed mentoring young men, under the program "Young Men Emerge." This initiative supports at-risk young men 14 to 25 years old, some have aged out of foster care, some are referred from local detention homes.
Every other Thursday, we get together to speak about pertinent issues in their lives and our community; this past Thursday we spoke about goal setting and the importance of flexibility when plans don't "work out."
I'm proud of my work with this group; it is important to me as a Black male to continue mentorship for young Black men - our future leaders.
