Officer Derek Owens Memorial Park

The Black Shield Police Association

Police officers, community members and family gathered for the inauguration of the Officer Derek Owens Memorial Park, this past Saturday. This park has been described as a "thank you letter" for P.O. Owens (Badge #746).

In order to honor Officer Owens and his contributions, the community built the park on the same street of his #EOW (02.29.08) 11 years ago. The Owens family and friends were surprised when Captain Keith Sulzer presented the new street sign that read: "Officer Derek Owens Way."

We are so appreciative of the efforts and support of the Cleveland Police Foundation, the Cleveland Foundation, the LAND Studio and a playground donation from the Cleveland Browns.
