Today we have a guest post created by P.O. Crystal Bailey, our International Women's Day honoree! P.O. Bailey is a US Navy Veteran and has an Associates' Degree in Criminal Justice. Please see below for more about her life and career:

My name is Crystal Bailey! I am a 29-year-old US Navy Veteran and I joined the military immediately after graduating high school. I completed two WestPac Deployments while enlisted into the Navy from 2010-2014. After being Honorable discharged I went on to obtain a Criminal Justice Degree to help me further my dreams of serving as a law enforcement and public safety official.

As a child, my dream was to become a police officer and to have accomplished this dream is such a wonderful thing! As of July 2, 2021, I will have completed three years on the job; I want people who look like me, Black residents, women and families to understand that I am here for them - here to protect them, to listen to them and that there are public safety officials who know and can relate to their everyday struggles.

I became a police officer so my brothers, kids, and family can know there are officers whom you can trust and that there are officers dedicated to building that trust over time. I love my career and my community as a whole.

I am here to serve and protect and I am proud to do so for Cleveland.
