Det. Benjamin McCully October 2020 Member of the Month

Detective Benjamin McCully began his career as part of the 103rd Cleveland Division of Police Academy Class in June 1990. After graduation, he was assigned to Cleveland's 6th District. By 1995, Det. McCully was promoted to detective within the Strike Force Unit - where he served for 8 years.


He then moved to the 5th District Vice Unit where he was involved in hundreds of drug, liquor, and prostitution arrests, dedicating his time to securing the safety of Cleveland residents and advocating for vulnerable victims. During his 30 year career with the Division, Det. McCully has received several letters of appreciation, and was awarded a Medal of Heroism and a Distinguished Service Medal. 


Det. McCully has been married to his wife, Damita, for 27 years and has 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren.  Det. McCully is recognized as the BSPA's Officer of the Month for October 2020 for his outstanding service throughout the Division and for his longtime membership with our organization. We are proud of him today, and every single day.
