Black Shield Police Association Day 2018

Updated: Nov 12, 2018

The Black Shield Police Association

---

On October 20, 1990, Mayor Michael White designated October 20th as the official "Black Shield Police Association Day" commemorating the strides of The Black Shield as well as our commitment to continued diversity and inclusion within the Cleveland Division of Police.

The Black Shield Police Association aims to provide continuous support for officers serving within the Greater Cleveland area, focusing on the unique situations, needs, and problems faced by Black and minority officers. In 2018, we asked Mayor Frank Jackson to recommission this day for the City of Cleveland. All day, we highlighted officers in the Greater Cleveland area - active and retired. Many thanks to the City of Cleveland and the Division of Police for making this day official again!
